Jesus Christ Is The Bread Of life

He said, I am the bread of life; he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst." (See John 6:23) The Way; Elder Lawrence E. Corbridge

"I Am The Bread Of Life"

The bread of life imagery is interesting symbolism. Bread is filling and depending on the type is very nutritious. Bread is a food that sustains.

Elder D. Todd Christofferson gave a fireside in January 2011, discussing how this idea that Christ is the bread of life applies to living for today and taking each day as it comes. He shared a personal story shortly before he was called as a general authority.

He was having some major financial troubles. It became serious enough that he thought he would be ruined financially. He earnestly prayed for deliverance. It didn't come when he hoped it would. After reflecting on it he was glad that it didn't. He learned how to truly pray during his intense trial. Mormon pioneers expressed the same sentiments during their trail of blood and death to the west. They said they found God in their extremities.

Elder Christofferson talked about not ignoring the future but stressed that we live in the present. We need to live for today. He talked about how to handle the most severe trials. If you are facing the severest of trials, the best route is to take each day at a time. You will become overwhelmed if you think about enduring something intense for long periods of time. If you ask yourself the question if you can handle it just for today, forgetting about tomorrow, then you probably can handle it. It may still be there tomorrow, but you never know when something will happen to deliver you from your trouble.

Christ has all power, and all righteous needs can be met through Him. He has also promised that He has the power to heal every mortal affliction, whether that be mental, emotional, physical or anything else.

Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ is enough to meet the needs of any man, woman, or child reading this page. I realize that is a bold statement, but it is true. Christ has the power to make anything righteous and needful thing happen. That is why Christ is the bread of life.
