If We Show Others Mercy, Jesus Christ Will Be Merciful To Us

Jesus Christ Topical Guide: Sermon On The Mount Series

Matthew 5:7

“Blessed are the merciful; for they shall obtain mercy.”

Synonyms for mercy are love, compassion and kindness. We hope Jesus Christ will show us mercy when He judges us. Also, the Apostles teach that holding a grudge is poison to our souls. Refusing to forgive someone else is a serious sin because it is mocking the Lord’s Atonement. It says that His sacrifice is not good enough and that there are limits to what He can do.

None of us can earn our salvation not matter how obedient and disciplined we are.

We cannot save ourselves!

Jesus Christ is our Savior and Redeemer. If it were not for His atoning sacrifice all of us would be cast off forever because all have sinned. Only those who repent will be saved.

Even after repentance and bringing forth fruits worthy of repentance, salvation will be only because of His mercy. We will still need a great deal of His mercy after all we can do.

If we don’t show mercy, Jesus will be much harsher on us. Therefore, we must give others second chances and never write anyone off.
