Arguing With Your Spouse Isn’t Worth It
January 25, 2019

Do You Always Have To Be Right?

Jesus Christ Topical Guide: Sermon On The Mount Series

Matthew 5: 25-26

“Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.”

I think what the Lord is saying here is to be a peacemaker. Don’t stir up trouble; and this is easy to do when you are in the heat of an argument with a spouse. Emotions are running high and it is hard to pause and look at the situation from a third party perspective. Also, our pride gets in the way.

There is no benefit in winning arguments.

Some people feel like they always have to be right. Taking this approach in marriage will not end well.
