Never “Put Away Your Wife” For Worldly Things

Jesus Christ Topical Guide: Sermon On The Mount Series

Matthew 5: 31-32

“It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement.

But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery; and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.”

Put Away His Wife

Your wife should feel treasured and more important to you than anything else save Jesus Christ only.

Falling out of love is not a just cause for divorce. The world teaches that if things aren’t going right, then you can get a divorce. It says, don’t worry about marriage, because divorce is easy, and there are no serious consequences. The world says you can always marry again.

The world does not know what love is. You will not learn real love from any TV show, or movie or love song.

A wife will feel very discouraged with her marriage if she feels second-class. God always comes first! If individuals and marriages make faith and Jesus Christ your primary focus Jesus will bless you with special gifts to love each other. Elder Holland said faith and romance have everything to do with each other and we separate faith at our peril.

No personal interests, hobbies, and friends should come before your wife.
