The Atonement of Jesus Christ Cleans Us From Sin And Makes Us Clean To Live With God

Gospel Basics Series: The Gospel Of Jesus Christ

Heavenly Father’s love is manifested in sending His Beloved Son Jesus Christ to come to earth to suffer, bleed and die for all His children. We don’t talk enough in the church what it must have been like for Heavenly Father to see Jesus Christ His only perfect child to suffer so much. It must have been unbearable for Heavenly Father to look down upon Jesus Christ in tremendous pain and suffering. Jesus Christ suffered because of His love for you and I.

We can only become clean through the grace and mercy of Jesus Christ, and it is only through Jesus Christ that we can return to live with God our Heavenly Father. We are healed spiritually when we are cleansed from sin.

All of us will return to God’s presence to be judged. This is only possible because of the atonement and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ will judge us based on our works and desires. We will also be judged according to the laws of justice and mercy.

Everything we do in this life has consequences whether they are good or bad. We too often think of justice as dishing out the punishment for disobeying God. Justice is also rewarding and blessing us with His promised blessings when we do what He says. God said that He is bound when we do what He says.

You and I sin, and sin makes us unclean. The Lord said that no unclean thing can live in God’s presence. The good news is that Jesus Christ made a way for us to become clean.

Jesus Christ’s atonement satisfies the demands of justice when He atoned for our sins. He took your sins and my sins upon Him. He also suffered the penalty of our sins. We are in debt to Him for taking our sins upon Him. He asks that we repent when we sin. When we repent the demands of justice is satisfied, and we will not suffer like He did. That doesn’t mean that repentance is painless, because it involves a level of pain but nothing to the degree that we will experience if we don’t repent.

Heavenly Father will honor and grant the request of Jesus Christ. Heavenly Father will do this because of the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ. If Jesus Christ requests that Heavenly Father allow you into the Father’s kingdom, God the Father will welcome you in because Jesus Christ plead for your cause.

Heavenly Father shows mercy and forgiveness of sins when He welcomes us into His kingdom to live with Him forever.

We are saved through Jesus Christ, but He did not remove our own responsibility. Salvation is individual. We are saved only when we do our part. Our part is accepting Jesus Christ, repenting of our sins, and keeping the commandments to the end.

By living the gospel of Jesus Christ and through His atonement we can permanently return to live with God. This can only happen if we show God that we accept Jesus Christ. Accepting Jesus Christ involves having faith in Christ, and keeping Jesus’ commandments and the first principles and ordinances of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Some cultures understand sin in different ways. Some see sin as committing a crime or doing something that they consider wrong that shames them and their family. Many countries have laws that are not sin. Sin is disobedience to God’s commandments. The consequence of sin is separation from God. God knows everything that we think and do. Nothing is hidden from Him.
