Heal Your Family Through Christ and The Power Of His Atonement

Book of Mormon Marriage And Family Study

1 Nephi 17: 41

“And after they were bitten he prepared a way that they might be healed.”

What do you do when your family is bitten by sin, or by the trials of life, such as serious discouragement or depression?

Heal your family by helping your children repent because sin is a heavy and unnecessary weight. Turn them to Christ and the power through His atoning sacrifice. Help them learn how to wash away their day-to-day frustrations and personal weaknesses.

Sometimes very serious things happen in life, that are very hard to cope with and these are not small things that are easily washed away. Instead they might be so serious that it needs the power of Godliness to heal. The best thing you can do for your children (or for anyone else for that matter) is to turn them to Christ. Jesus Christ is infinite (all powerful and all knowing); therefore, your children can endure or overcome all things through Him. He descended below all things! He took upon Him all our sins and all the trauma’s of life.

You don’t want to be a helicopter parent swooping in rescuing your children every time they have a problem. If you do this they will not learn to stand on their own two feet. Help them become strong when they are young so they can handle greater stress and pressure when they get older. For example one article I recently read talked about how Universities are seeing an increase in anxiety and depression in college students. One therapist thought this might be because many students are not prepared for the stresses of college life.

Fathers can’t take their priesthood lightly.
