The atonement of Jesus Christ is everything, and it is the most important and transcendent event that has ever happened on this earth. Hence, nothing else comes close to it. The second greatest far-reaching miracle was God The Father and Jesus Christ as resurrected beings visiting and talking with Joseph Smith face to face that is known as the First Vision. That kicked off the restoration of the gospel.

What Would Happen If The Atonement Of Jesus Christ Didn’t Happen?

• All of your good works would be in vain.
• All of your righteous desires would be nothing more than a pipe dream.
• You would not be resurrected.
• You would be automatically sent to dwell with Satan for the rest of eternity.
• Becoming clean spiritually would be impossible.
• You would not have the grace of God, which gives you the power to do important things. Every good thing you tried to do would be useless.
• Choosing to come to earth would be your death sentence.
• Life would be total and absolute darkness, with depression of the worst kind.
• Life in general would be atrociously difficult, with an oppressive weight always pressing down you from all sides with nothing to relieve it.

The good news is that Jesus Christ did come and He was successful and performed the infinite atonement, for all. That means this life does matter a great deal and our good works are not in vain, and we can have His grace or enabling power to do great things. Exercising your agency is vital and will pay off.
