The World Is Satan’s Playing Field And His Game is Misery

Book of Mormon Marriage And Family Study

2 Nephi 2:18

“And because he had fallen from heaven, and had become miserable forever, he sought also the misery of all mankind.”

Satan is a forever-miserable being and in my opinion he will never be redeemed. Therefore, he has an eternal hatred for God and everything that is good and righteous. He is the cause of every evil and wicked thing.

Satan is the father of lies and the master deceiver. Therefore he is extremely skilled at twisting lies to make them feel right. This is why anything from Satan leads to sorrow and misery depending on how corrupt the lie is.

The Fruits of Satan

The Devil is opposed to anything that increases light; therefore his fruits are darkness. Expect that anything created by him even if it is a decoy of virtue will invite a measure of darkness into your life and home even if it is just a little bit. This might not sound very concerning; however, if left untreated the darkness will spread. The Apostles once said that Satan injects us with something that deadens the pain, and therefore don’t realize we are poisoned. When we get comfortable with darkness the light of Christ becomes dimmer and dimmer.

How Can This Doctrine Build Strong Marriages And Families?

This should strengthen our resolve to overcome the world and make the home a haven away from the wicked world. We should evaluate what the foundation is that our marriages and families are built upon. What is most important? What do you spend most of your time doing? This will give you signs about what your foundation really is. How you spend your discretionary time, which is time that you can control, is a sign of your foundation.
