Salvation Requires Obedience

The Presidents Of The Church Series: Joseph Smith

Salvation is not cheap. Salvation by grace only is a false doctrine and is a key weapon Satan uses to destroy agency. Salvation requires that we do everything that the Lord requires. Baptism by itself is also not enough, making all the covenants and ordinances of the gospel are required.

Joseph Smith said; “Our only confidence can be in God; our only wisdom obtained by Him; and He alone must be our protector and safeguard, spiritually and temporally, or we fall.”

The Lord intends on pouring out upon the members of the church the gifts of the Holy Ghost. The Lord plans on making the church equal to the city of Enoch. This requires each individual listening to the voice of the Lord and following the promptings of the spirit. Obedience to God’s laws is mandatory.

Joseph Smith stressed that mere belief in Jesus Christ is not good enough. Mere belief in Jesus Christ will not give you power and it will not protect you. Power and protection come from belief and exercising agency through obedience.

Keeping the commandments is how you bear fruit and become friends of God and not associates only. Obedience is a requirement to become part of the Lord’s intimate circle.
