Your Protection In The Last Day’s Is Through Personal Righteousness

The Presidents Of The Church Series: Joseph Smith

Keeping the commandments is how you survive the last the last days. Joseph Smith warns against a false sense of spiritual security. Be careful about what you do. Gain a sure knowledge of how you stand before the Lord. The Lord has a high standard, and no matter who you are or what you have done you can reach it. That is the promise of His atonement. You can enjoy unspeakable joy and happiness by keeping His commandments.

Paul suffered enormous affliction. He ultimately gave his life for Christ. Among many things, Paul was whipped and stoned. Why did he submit to all of that? He did it so he could obtain a crown of righteousness from God in the next life. He knew the glory of the next life would be incomparable compared to any affliction in this life.

Joseph Smith said, “…The ancients, though persecuted and afflicted by men, obtained from God promises of such weight and glory, that our hearts are often filled with gratitude that we are even permitted to look upon them while we contemplate that there is no respect of persons in His sight, and that in every nation, he that feareth God and worketh righteousness, is acceptable with Him.”

“…,yet if we are the children of the Most High, and are called with the same calling with which they were called, and embrace the same covenant that they embraced, and are faithful to the testimony of our Lord as they were, we can approach the Father in the name of Christ as they approached Him, and for ourselves obtain the same promises.”

To achieve the same spiritual status that the ancients achieve requires that you are as dedicated to the Lord as they were. The promises for you are the same as they were to them.
