Satan’s Greatest Target Is Jesus Christ And His Atonement
April 07, 2015

If Satan Can Convince You There Is No Atonement, Game Over

The Things Of My Soul

Atonement Series

Alma 30:17; “…telling them that there could be no atonement made for the sins of men,….” (Book of Mormon)

A Book of Mormon anti-Christ said this phrase. The Book of Mormon was written for our day, and we are currently seeing a surge in secularism and opposition against Christians.

Satan has always made Christ His greatest target because if he can take Christ out of the picture then he wins everything because Jesus Christ is God’s plan for our salvation. The family is also always in his crosshairs, but Satan started a war in heaven to destroy our agency and discredit Christ, and even replace Him.

If there is one way for the anti-Christ’s (i.e. anyone who opposes Jesus Christ) to win, it is to hide the Lord or make Him a thing of naught by lying and downplaying Christ and His mission. There are Christians who will stand by Christ no matter what, and the 12 Apostles are these men, but they are not the only ones.

Not believing in the atonement is dangerous. I suppose there is a difference between believing that there could be no atonement verses not believing in the atonement; meaning not believing that the atonement can do what it promises.

They both set you up for failure and a life of great sadness. I think between the two, believing that there could be no atonement is the worst.

Of all the lies Satan tells, this is the crowning one because it is the most dangerous. Life without the atonement would be hopeless, pointless and meaningless.

Think of the consequences if masses of people thought their life was hopeless?

If there is a significant way to get people to either do nothing righteous or do extremely evil and wicked things, it is to take Christ out of the picture.

The anti-Christ’s are gaining ground in this country and the world. Atheism is becoming a religion by itself, and they are bold in fighting Christ. Religious freedom and freedom of speech are being threatened in America. Christian businesses are being shut down. The U.S. Constitution is being shredded.

Suing a cake maker because they don’t want to make wedding cakes for homosexual couples is unconstitutional.

In a way, the greater the opposition to Christ, the more directly you can prove your loyalty to Christ. Blessed are the persecuted for Christ's sake. It may seem like Satan is getting the upper hand in this war. The Savior allows it, to test if we will exercise our agency and truly choose Him over Satan.

Every week when we take the Sacrament we covenant that we will fight for Christ, that we will choose Him over Satan.

Actually, being persecuted is a great way to prove your loyalty and devotion to Christ and show that you fight for Him. That is because you can't be neutral when you are being shot at. You either have to return fire by standing up for your beliefs and defend them or seek cover by keeping your mouth shut about important things, such as same sex marriage or gender identity, or other issues important to you.
