Why Servant Leadership Is The Most Effective

King Benjamin and King Mosiah are righteous leaders who give us the textbook definition and example of how leaders should be. Their teachings and example could be summed up in two words, servant leadership.

Key Principles

  • Humility
  • Hard work
  • Be a giver not a taker

Righteous leaders don't think or act like they are better than their followers. Servant leadership is about serving others not being served.

Jesus Christ is the absolute perfect example of righteous leadership. He was the king and His apostles knew that, but Christ washed their feet. Washing their feet was a tremendous act of humility and proof that Christ didn't see Himself above His apostles.

King Benjamin and King Mosiah were hard workers. They didn't put heavy burdens on the people, or expect to be supported by the people. They didn't feel entitled even though they were kings. They saw their kingship as an opportunity and blessing to serve others, not an entitlement to a life of ease and tranquility.

They were givers and did not take from the people. All they thought about is how to make life better for others.
