God Will Help You Build A Strong Marriage And Family

Book of Mormon Marriage And Family Study

1 Nephi 9: 26

“wherefore, he prepareth a way to accomplish all his works among the children of men.”

This should give struggling families hope and confidence because of all things God wants for us in this life is a happy marriage and family. Therefore, He will certainly help you. Marriage is ordained of God which means it is extremely important to Him. Furthermore, families are the foundation of every society, and the government of Heaven. In the next life we will be organized as families and not as wards or stakes like the church is set up here.

Why is the divorce rate so high? Why are there so many dysfunctional families?

Certainly Heavenly Father is not happy that so many families are failing and it doesn’t have to be this way. However, many marriages are very strong because they learn and live by truths (gospel truths) that make for strong marriages and families. Elder Bednar said everything you can learn in the behavioral sciences (psychology, sociology) can be learned in the scriptures. The Holy Ghost is the greatest teacher. Therefore, He can teach you everything you need to build a strong marriage and a solid family.

Certainly one of Christ’s works is to strengthen and build marriages and families.

He Prepareth A Way To Accomplish All His Works

His way is the gospel, and that is what you use to save your family. The gospel is the way He prepared. Saving souls is his work and glory, and He wants to save the human family? Impossible you might say! It is not impossible if everyone would live the gospel. The problem is, many who have the gospel treat it lightly or take it for granted, and therefore don’t use it to solve their problems.
