The Holy Ghost Can Take All Evil Out Of Your Heart

The Presidents Of The Church Series: Joseph Smith

Having the gift of the Holy Ghost is a requirement to operate in the name of Jesus Christ. Additionally, to receive the gifts of the spirit such as working miracles, healing the sick, speaking in tongues, visions and prophesying requires having the gift of the Holy Ghost.

The only way you can know that Jesus is the Christ is by the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost is a comforter and witness bearer. It leads you to all truth and shows you things to come. The Holy Ghost also brings to your remembrance past things and things that you forgot.

Joseph Smith after he died once appeared to Brigham Young and gave Brigham this message:

“Tell the people to be humble and faithful and sure to keep the Spirit of the Lord and it will lead them right. Be careful and not turn away the small still voice; it will teach [you what] to do and where to go; it will yield the fruits of the kingdom. Tell the brethren to keep their hearts open to conviction so that when the Holy Ghost comes to them, their hearts will be ready to receive it. They can tell the Spirit of the Lord from all other spirits. It will whisper peace and joy to their souls, and it will take malice, hatred, envying, strife, and all evil from their hearts; and their whole desire will be to do good, bring forth righteousness, and build up the kingdom of God. Tell the brethren if they will follow the Spirit of the Lord they will go right.” Teachings Of The Presidents of The Church: Joseph Smith page 98.
