The Priesthood Is An Infinite And Unlimited Power That Has Always Existed And Will Never End

The Presidents Of The Church Series: Joseph Smith

The priesthood is everlasting and has existed with God from eternity to eternity. It has no beginning of days and has no end. The priesthood is infinite (unlimited) in power. It had existed before this world was created. Adam the first man on earth was given the priesthood. He obtained it in the pre-existence before coming to earth. Adam was given dominion over every living creature, and he has passed authority to dominion over the earth down to you and me.

The priesthood was passed down from generation to generation from Adam.

The day will come when Adam visits the earth and holds a council with a select group of people in preparation for the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. Adam is the father of all the human family and will give an account of his stewardship to Jesus Christ.

Joseph said the following about this meeting; “He (Adam) is the father of the human family, and presides over the spirits of all men, and all that have had the keys must stand before him in this grand council…The Son of Man stands before him and there is given him glory and dominion. Adam delivers up his stewardship to Christ, that which was delivered to him as holding the keys of the universe, but retains his standing as head of the human family.”
