Repent And Become Like God And Eventually Receive All That He Has, Forfeit It All By Not Repenting

"In short we must repent, perhaps the most hopeful and encouraging word in the Christian vocabulary. We thank our Father in Heaven we are allowed to change, we thank Jesus we can change, and ultimately we do so only with Their divine assistance." Broken Things To Mend, Elder Jeffrey R. Holland

The Word Repent Is The Most Hopeful And Encouraging Word In The Christian Vocabulary

Repentance is hopeful and encouraging. You are made in God's image and likeness. Every time you repent you come closer to His image and likeness.

If there is one thing you can do to become like God is to repent. You will both mistreat others and be mistreated. James Ferrell the author of The Peacegiver says being mistreated is the most important condition of mortality. Marriage counselors say most hurts in relationships are false, meaning you took offense to something when the other did not intend to hurt you.

It is true that you can't avoid the consequences of sin. Not repenting makes for a miserable life here and the hereafter. The Doctrine and Covenants says if we don't repent then we will suffer like Christ did, but if we repent then we won't suffer like He did.

President Eyring says repentance should be something you do every day.

Repentance is the most hopeful word because you would be without hope without the possibility of repentance. Fortunately, because of Jesus Christ you can repent.

Repentance is the most encouraging because the yearning of a painful and hurtful soul is to be healed. It is encouraging because repentance places you in a position to have everything Heavenly Father has.

Repenting is encouraging because it restores you to what you otherwise would lose out on.

Of course not sinning in the first place is better than sinning. Never sinning is not possible in this life, so give that up right now. You don't have to be without sin to have a close relationship with Christ. Even when you sin, it doesn't change your worth.

The highest blessings that you could receive in this life doesn't require a sinless life. Only Christ was sinless. All you have to do is read the scriptures and pay attention to the experiences the prophets had, and they were not perfect like Christ is. The prophets in the scriptures had amazing experiences. God is no respecter of persons; which means you too can have the same exact experiences the prophets have had. The only thing you can't have is receive revelation for the entire church or world like the prophet can.

The reason why we don't claim for ourselves the greatest blessings is because we don't understand God's love and mercy.
